Wedding Gowns, Color And Style Depends On Religion And Culture

By Victor Epand A wedding dress or wedding gown is clothing worn by a bride during a wedding ceremony. Color, style and ceremonial importance of the gown depends on the religion and culture of the participants. In modern tradition, the color of western-culture wedding dresses is white. Used in this sense, 'white' or 'wedding white' includes creamy shades such as eggshell, ecru and ivory. The popularity of this color can be traced back to 1840 and the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg. The Queen chose to wear a white gown for the event. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published and many brides opted for a similar dress in honor of that choice. The tradition continues today. Prior to the Victorian era a bride was married in any color except black (the color of mourning) or red (which was connected with prostitutes). The white dress came to symbolize purity of heart and the innocence of childhood. Later attribution suggested that the color white symbolized virginity which is false. However it was originally the color blue that was connected to purity. The term "bridal gown" originates from the word al which means party combined with bride is Bridal i.e. "Bride's Party Gown". In the middle Ages wedding parties were simply called Bride-al's. A bridal train is the part of the wedding dress that trails behind the bride, the term is derived from similar train worn by Kings & Queens, which themselves are derived from seeing a Peacock, which were used as royal birds. Many wedding dresses in China are colored red, the traditional color of good luck. In modern Chinese weddings, particularly in Western countries, the bride usually goes for the white Western dress or changes from a red gown to a white gown later in the day. Also in northern parts of India, the traditional color of female wedding garments is red. South Indian weddings traditionally use white or cream colored saris. With Indians in Western countries, the bride often wears the sari at the wedding ceremony and change into traditional Indian wear afterwards (like lehnga, choli, et cetera). Current fashion was followed in the dropped waist and generally unshaped bodice, and in the way the headdress was worn low over the brow, clasping the veil to the bride's head in a way that echoed the cloche hat every woman was wearing. We have now reached a new century, and no doubt the wedding gown will carry on changing in fabric and altering in form. But there is equally no doubt that it will remain with us. Since the civil wedding laws were relaxed in the 1990s, allowing marriages to be conducted almost anywhere; even those with no religious convictions can have a beautiful setting for a full-rig "do". As wedding fashion continues to evolve separately from the general vogue, people have felt freer to allow full rein for their imaginations, and some wedding parties are not so much in "best" dress as fancy dress, as themed and fantasy costumes are the order of the day. Which all goes to prove that everyone likes to dress up now and again, and every girl wants her day in the sun? Victor Epand is an expert fashion consultant at http://www.LingerieDress.com/. Planning the Music for Your Wedding Ceremony

By Courtney Lawhn Its safe to say that out of all the events for which you will gather your friends and family to celebrate your marriage, the wedding ceremony itself will be the most meaningful and, hopefully, memorable. In the United States, music plays many vital roles in the wedding ceremony, from providing flow and ambiance to highlighting the deeper emotional meaning. Many former brides and grooms remember the songs played at their weddings for the rest of their lives, and they can relive that romantic day when hearing those songs again. Since music is so important to your wedding ceremony, I always advise hiring one or more live, experienced, professional musicians to handle it. Qualified, well-researched musicians will be able to tailor the music in real time to fit what is going on in your ceremony, which will help one part flow effortlessly into the next. Also, youll find it truly ties together all of the visual and verbal elements, from the flowers to the vows, with timeless style and class. For the music, most American wedding ceremonies have six major parts, each with their own special requirements: 1. The prelude 2. The wedding partys processional 3. The brides processional 4. The interlude 5. The recessional 6. The postlude If you do not want to choose individual songs for your ceremony, experienced wedding musicians will be able to play appropriate songs in the right places. But picking out your own music can be more meaningful and satisfying. The first decision you should make that will guide you in your choices is whether you want your music to be traditional and classic or lesser-known but unique. The professional wedding musicians you hire should have a supply of music from both categories in their repertoire. The Prelude The purpose of the prelude music is to welcome guests as they are being seated before the ceremony. It also should give a cheerful yet subdued atmosphere, setting the stage for the solemnity of the event. The prelude generally begins 15 to 20 minutes before the ceremony start time, and it often involves quite a few songs. Because of this, its best to give the musician(s) an idea of the genre of music you want and leave the individual song choices up to their discretion. Since the prelude sets the tone for the rest of the ceremony, its a good idea to base your genre choice on the type of music you will be using later in the ceremony. Popular genre choices include Classical, Love Songs, Jazz, and Broadway, and these genres can be mixed together within the prelude to suit your taste. Each of these genres has sub-categories (Baroque or Romantic Classical music, old or new love songs, etc.), but its safe to leave those choices up to the musicians unless you have strong feelings one way or another. The Wedding Partys Processional The wedding partys processional marks the official beginning of the ceremony. It should have a slow but flowing feel, ushering the beautiful bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party down the aisle. Perhaps the classic example here is Canon in D by Pachelbel, but you should listen to various musical selections to find a song that strikes a chord with you. The Brides Processional The brides processional can be an incredible moment, as memorable to everyone involved as the vows or any other part of the ceremony. You should choose a very special song here. If you go with Classical music, the obvious traditional choice is Wagners Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride). But any Classical piece that strikes you as particularly beautiful or meaningful can be used here. If youre going with jazz, pop, or Broadway, use a song with beautiful music as well as lyrics that are meaningful to you. Even if you dont have a singer at your wedding, the lyrics to a popular song will still play in everyones minds when they hear the melody. The Interlude The interlude can actually be many different moments in the ceremony, my very loose definition being any time there are no words being spoken for a minute or more. For most ceremonies, the interlude is the unity candle, memorial candle, or rose presentation. These are moments of quiet reflection, and the music you choose should encourage this mood. A popular and appropriate unity candle choice is The Wedding Song, partly because the lyrics mention the word union. Sweet Classical favorites include Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring by Bach, Ave Maria by Schubert, and Meditation from Thais by Massenet. The Recessional At last, time to celebrate! The wedding officiants
pronouncement of husband and wife is followed by enthusiastic applause and joyous recessional music as the happy couple leads the way back up the aisle. The song you choose should be bright and upbeat, inviting everyone to celebrate your union. The top traditional choice for the recessional is Mendelssohns Wedding March. A close second and third are Beethovens Ode to Joy and Clarkes Trumpet Voluntary. But any song with a joyous feel that speaks to you will work well in this spot. The Postlude The postlude sets a pleasant atmosphere as guests are leaving. It can last between 10 and 30 minutes, so its best to treat the postlude like the prelude and simply give the musicians an idea of what you want. Experienced wedding musicians will play postlude music that is refined but upbeat, adding the finishing touch to your beautiful ceremony. The best starting point for specific ceremony music ideas is the repertoire list on the website (or in paper form) of the musicians you are hiring. The songs listed there are usually ones that the musicians are requested to play frequently and that the musicians know very well. Talk with your musicians as far in advance of the ceremony as possible about your musical selections. This way, if you have a special request that is not in the musicians repertoire, they may be able to accommodate it. Lastly, have fun with the process of choosing your music! You can make listening to possible ceremony music a wonderful opportunity to slow down in the midst of your hectic planning and reflect on the love that you and your partner feel for each other. Music has the power to express this beautiful sentiment to all of your friends and family during your wedding ceremony, so take advantage of it! Article written by:

Healing Herbs for Rashes and Skin Irritations

By Mary Welty There have been literally hundreds of enquiries this month for herbs to cure skin rashes and irritations, so I thought Id take a moment to share some of my favorite skin treatments. First, let me remind you that the best overall skin care product you can use is olive oil. Whether you suffer from dry or itchy skin, or just wish to improve the appearance and texture of your skin, you would be hard pressed to do better than pure, extra virgin olive oil. This can be applied straight from the bottle, and can be used on any part of the skin including the face. The curative properties of Olive Oil, both internal and external are nothing short of miraculous and I would like to share with you a recent experience that serves as a reminder to me how some of the most common elements surrounding us often remain overlooked. My neighbor and I happen to share the same birthday. She is a widow whose children and grandchildren often come to visit. As our birthdays approached, I made her up a bottle of my favorite after-bath oil (made primarily with olive oil) as a gift. Unfortunately for my neighbor, I ran into her daughter first, who had suffered a severe exposure to Poison Ivy. In all honestly, it was the worst case of poison ivy I had ever seen. Her legs were almost completely covered in angry, purple splotches. In a number of areas, the rash was crusting and developing a greenish tinge. The itching was so intense that even after two weeks she was still on sleep medication as well as prescription strength antihistamines and ointments. I gave the oil to her and sincerely hoped it would help to alleviate her suffering. Im pleased to report that five days later, my neighbor called, overjoyed. Not only had the oil relieved the itching, but also the crusty, green scabs were gone and the huge purple blotches had begun to fade. The oil I mentioned is extremely simple to prepare and is an excellent curative for virtually any skin irritation including eczema and psoriasis. After-Bath Oil:
Please remember that while a lesser grade of olive oil can be used for everyday purposes, if you are attempting to treat a serious skin condition, the extra virgin is made from the first press of the olive and retains the most important curative properties that you are searching for. 3 parts extra virgin olive oil
1 part sweet almond oil
1 part apricot kernel oil Blend the oils together, and if desired, add several drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance. This can be applied to the skin at any time. For all-over skin conditioning, apply the oil immediately after your bath or shower, then pat dry. A special note for women who shave their legs: This oil treatment will completely eliminate any itching or dry flaking skin after shaving. It is simply the best after-bath oil you will ever try. Please check back next week when we will be discussing herbal treatments for many common irritants such as bee stings, nettles, burns and more. How to Attract Men

By Amy Waterman How do you know when you like someone? If you're like most people, it's a gut feeling. You just "know." As a result, if you asked a man to explain why he was attracted to a woman, he would probably tell you the wrong answers. He would say that it was her personality or her smile or the way she laughed. But he didn't make the decision to be attracted to her from his head; he felt it in his heart. Most of us don't tend to examine how we form feelings of attraction. All we know is that we feel an irresistible force drawing us closer to another person. Many more factors are at work in creating attraction than the obvious traits of appearance, personality, and sexual chemistry. Today, I'm going to share four crucial factors that create attraction and tell you what they mean for YOU. First of all, let me clarify something. Attractiveness is not simply a measure of objectively "attractive" traits in a person. No one is ever attractive on their own; they're always attractive TO someone. For example, when you look in the mirror, you decide whether or not you are attractive to yourself. This doesn't mean that someone else will look at you and judge your attractiveness in the same way. Social psychology has determined that there are multiple factors that influence interpersonal attraction - and, lo and behold, physical attractiveness is only one of them. 1. Propinquity The first factor is "propinquity," which means that people tend to form relationships with others living nearby. For example, the chances of you starting a relationship with someone from Denmark are much lower than the chances of you starting a relationship with someone who lives in your town. This has two implications. First of all, dismissing local men from your dating radar may not be a good idea. I know many women who will only date men who are NOT from their hometown. No matter what their opinions are about "local boys," they're certainly lowering their chances of finding a partner. Second, you can decrease the distance between you and thousands of eligible men with the click of a button. That's right: with the internet. Internet dating brings thousands of eligible singles into close contact, making geographical distance less of an obstacle. 2. Familiarity The second factor is "familiarity," also known as the "exposure effect." This means that you tend to like a person that you see more often, or that you're familiar with. This explains why so many students and co-workers tend to form relationships: they see one another on a regular basis in the classroom or in the office. For you, this means that you can increase your attractiveness to men by being a "regular." Make a habit of going to the same cafes. Go to the gym at the same time every day. Join a club where you interact with the same people regularly. Become a familiar face, and soon you'll find that men are more interested. 3. Similarity This is a crucial attraction factor from a statistical point of view. According to "Sex in America: A Definitive Survey," people tend to marry partners who are similar in age, in education, in religion, and in race or ethnic background. We tend to marry people like us for a variety of reasons. Many partners tend to meet through their social network, which implies that they already have a good deal of things in common. Relationships based on a common set of values tend to face fewer conflicts when it comes to big life decisions like childrearing. What this means for you is twofold. First, you should recognize that focusing your dating efforts on meeting people with whom you already share something in common (like a hobby, a profession, or the same group of friends) will yield greater results than hoping to bump into the "perfect man" on the street, on the bus, or in a crowded nightclub. Second, it is always best to play up your similarities rather than your differences when you first meet someone that you are interested in. Find out what you have in common, even if it's as basic as a similar taste in music, and build your conversation from that point. 4. Reciprocal liking This is one of my favorite factors of attraction: it's the theory that you can encourage someone's interest in you simply by showing your interest in them. We all know people who've liked us immensely since the moment they met us, and it's almost impossible not to like them back. There's something enormously flattering about being liked by someone, especially if they're an attractive member of the opposite sex. This principle raises doubts about the effectiveness of the "ice queen" technique, whereby women pretend to be aloof and indifferent in order to make men pursue them. There is no sound scientific research proving that it pays to act coldly, UNLESS the other person is super-attractive and used to women fawning all over him. For 90% of us, acting in friendly and interested manner will ignite a reciprocal liking. So what should you do? Smile! Let a man know that you enjoy his company. For shy guys, or guys who are afraid of rejection, your display of interest will be exactly what he needs to get the courage to take your interaction to the next step. Now that you understand some of the genuine factors that influence why people find each other attractive, you're ready to find out how you can move beyond mere attractiveness to irresistibility. Best Weight Loss Strategy

By Roy Chan If you want to reduce your body fat, focus on increasing the amount of exercise you get rather than decreasing your food intake. A recent national study was done using two groups of sedentary men, one group in their 20's and the other over age 65. A lot was learned from this accumulated data and it is interesting to note that there was a significant relationship between lack of physical activity and fat. Not surprisingly, the most sedentary men had the most body fat. These studies have also indicated that the government current recommended daily allowance for calories does not correlate with the body's actual energy needs. For example, although 2400 calories have been calculated for older men, they in fact burned an average of 2800 calories daily.
The leading experts now recommend that people who want to lose weight start increasing their physical activity. Just being more active in general (such as climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator, moving around instead of sitting still, sitting up instead of lying down as well as showing some excitement and enthusiasm instead of boredom), are things that more effectively burns calories and reduces body fat. Everyone seems to have lost sight of the value of being active. Consider this, a half-hour aerobic workout accounts for far less energy expenditure than our minute-to-minute movement in the office or at home. Millions of Americans are trying to lose weight, spending approximately $30 billion a year on diet programs and products; often they do lose some weight. But, if you check with the same people five years later, you will find that nearly all have regained whatever weight they lost. A national panel recently sought data to determine if any commercial diet program could prove long-term success. Not a single program could do so. Being seriously overweight and particularly obesity predisposes individuals to a number of diseases and serious health problems, and it's now a known fact that when caloric intake is excessive, some of the excess frequently is saturated fat. People who diet without exercising often get fatter with time. Although your weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. When the weight returns, it comes back as fat. To avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising regularly.
Walking is one of the best exercises for strengthening bones, controlling weight, toning the leg muscles, maintaining good posture and improving positive self-concept. To lose weight, it's more important to walk for time than speed. Walking at a moderate pace yields longer workouts with less soreness - leading t more miles and more fat worked off on a regular basis. High intensity walks on alternate days help condition one's system. But in a walking, weight-loss program, you are not required to walk an hour every day as some people would have you believe. When it comes to good health and weight loss, exercise and diet are inter-related. Exercising without maintaining a balanced diet is no more beneficial than dieting while remaining inactive.
Once you have made up your mind to lose weight, you should make that commitment and go into it with a positive attitude. We all know that losing weight can be quite a challenge. In fact, for some, it can be downright tough. It takes time, practice and support to change lifetime habits. But it's a process you must learn in order to succeed. You and you alone are the one who has the power to lose unwanted pounds.
Think like a winner, and not a loser - - remember that emotions are like muscles and the ones you use most grow the strongest. If you always look at the negative side of things, you'll become a downbeat, pessimistic person. Even slightly negative thoughts have a greater impact on you and last longer than powerful positive thoughts. Negative thinking doesn't do you any good; it just holds you back from accomplishing the things you want to do. When a negative thought creeps into your mind, replace it reminding yourself that you're somebody, you have self-worth and you possess unique strengths and talents. Contemplate what lies ahead of you. Losing weight is not just about diets. It's about a whole new you and the possibility of creating a new life for yourself. Investigate the weight loss programs that appeal to you and that you feel will teach you the behavioral skills you need to stick with throughout the weight-loss process. First you should look for support among family and friends. It can be an enormous help to discuss obstacles and share skills and tactics with others on the same path. You might look for this support from others you know who are in weight loss programs and you can seek guidance from someone you know who has lost weight and kept it off. There are success stories across the country today. On television and in newspapers, magazines and tabloids about people who have miraculously lost untold pounds and kept it off. In all instances they say their mental attitude as well as their outlook on life has totally changed. Diets and weight loss programs are more flexible now than they once were and there are many prepared foods already portioned out. They are made attractive and can be prepared in a matter of minutes. Low-fat and low-calorie foods are on shelves everywhere. You will probably need to learn new, wiser eating skills. You will want a weight loss regimen that gives you some control, rather than imposing one rigid system. Look for one that offers a variety of different eating plans, so you can choose the one that's best for you. Keep in mind, too, that your weight loss program will most likely include some physical exercises. Look at the exercising aspect of your program as fun and recreation and not as a form of grueling and sweaty work. The fact is that physical fitness is linked inseparable to all personal effectiveness in every field. Anyone willing to take the few simple steps that lie between them and fitness will shortly begin to feel better, and the improvement will reflect itself in every facet of their existence. Doctors now say that walking is one of the best exercises. It helps the total circulation of blood throughout the body, and thus has a direct effect on your overall feeling of health. There are things such as aerobics, jogging, swimming and many other exercises which will benefit a weight loss program. Discuss the options with your doctor and take his advice in planning your exercise and weight loss program. Roy Chan, CPA, CFP

Looking For Jobs Online? Read This First

By Khieng Chho The Internet is a vast, continually expanding world. With technology advancing and with more and more people and companies turning to their Internet for all their personal and professional needs, it is inevitable that someone somewhere thought of finally posting job advertisements online. At present, there are more than 80,000 job sites spread all over the Web. Not only that, company, government and college alumni web sites post their own list of job openings in their respective turfs. Even regular mailing lists have offtopic job postings. In short, online job advertisements are everywhere. So there is really no reason not to find something that suits you and your skills. But before you finally decide to join the bandwagon and search for a job online, take note of the following points first. While it's true that online job searches are a cinch and will not require you to break a sweat, you should actually be more careful with who you're dealing with and what kinds of information you're passing along. Choose a Reputable Online Job Search Service The Internet is home to a lot of scammers who would do anything to get personal information out of you. Before you pass your resume to a job site, check its background first and see what previous users think about it. Ask around for reviews and stories of their experiences with that particular online job site. Sure, not all of the good job posted online are on these so-called reputable sites, but it sure does pay to be safe, especially since you're giving out your phone number, address and other personal details. Treat Your Resume and Web Portfolio as a Real Business Document Most online job hunters have this misconception that because you're not dealing with your employer face to face and that it's all done via the Web anyway, they're not obliged to make their applications documents and spick-and-span and impressive as they would look in a print document. Wrong. Because nearly all the interaction involved will be based on the Internet, your potential employer will judge your work ethic and professionalism based on the documents you submitted. That's why you have to be extra careful, because you won't be there to instantly defend yourself when they see something off on your records. Don't Distribute Your Resume To All Online Job Sites Available Use maximum discretion when posting your resume. While you might be itching to just put yourself out there to get a job instantly, this might not be your best bet. Remember, just because the Internet is so vast doesn't mean you won't get caught floating your resume everywhere. It makes you look desperate and highly unprofessional. Apply to a few online job sites first -- the ones you're most comfortable with and learn to be patient. Good things come to those who wait. When you apply for online jobs, make sure you read the qualifications and minimum requirements stated on the ad, so you won't waste time applying for something you don't really qualify for. Even if the hunt is done online, you should still be prudent with your applications. Good luck! Khieng 'Ken' Chho - Online Jobs

How to Make Predictions Come True!

By Ann Stewart What are your predictions for this year for yourself and your family? The word prediction is derived from two Latin words: pre, meaning: before, and: diction, the spoken word. The original verb, predicere, means to speak before. In other words then, would you agree that when someone accurately predicts the future, it was spoken before it took place? Well, God works that way. The Bible is full of prophesies, Words spoken by divine inspiration that have all, are right now, and/or will come to pass. God never spoke an idle word! He told Abram repeatedly that he would become the father of many nations and that through him all the nations of the earth would be blessed. (Gen. 12-17) Abram believed God. However, as time went on, he thought hed help Him out, and Ishmael was the result! Finally, I can imagine, God really got his attention, saying something like: Abram, dont you get it? You are Abra-ha-m! Thats what Ive been telling you all this time! for a father of many nations have I made thee.(Note the past tense here) (Gen. 17: 5) Although Isaac, the son of Promise, was not yet born, in the spiritual realm it was already accomplished. His spoken Word was in the earth and Amen, it was so! No ifs, buts or maybes! But, Abram had to be convinced. After all, in the natural, God's Promise was impossible! His name was changed to father of many nations and Sarah was now called: mother of many nations, (Gen. 18: 15-16) I am not a Bible scholar nor have any knowledge of Hebrew. But, did you notice the AH that the Lord added to both their names? I am convinced that God has a fantastic sense of humor and, reading it in English, I would like to think he said to Abraham and Sarah: Do you get what Ive been trying to tell you for years? Now just keep speaking it until it becomes an AHA revelation down in your heart. Guess what happened! Every time they called each other, or their many servants addressed them, they didnt merely turn their heads in response to hearing their name any more! They heard Gods prophetic Word over their lives! Although Abraham was already a man of faith, who loved God, he needed to learn that faith grows by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God! (Rom. 10: 17) First, God spoke the blessing, then he gave His children the name of His Will for their lives, and finally He had them speaking it over themselves until the word came true! What are you saying about yourself? Are you speaking His blessings over your life? You, too, can get AHA! moments, when your faith clicks into gear and you suddenly know that you know that what you asked the Lord for is about to happen! Why? How? Well, The Word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart. And, if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. You first believe in your heart, and then you speak it out loud! (Rom. 10: 8-10) Salvation is the greatest miracle. Yet, it takes but a matter of moments to be convicted by Gods Word and to declare it. Why, then, does it seem so difficult for many to believe Gods Word for all His other blessings? Do you know that Gods thoughts about you are precious, (Ps. 140. 17) that He formed you in the womb, and calls you by name? Yes, like Abraham and Sarah, he also changed your name; he surnamed? (Isa. 44: 2; 5) If you are His, then you are now called by His Name; created for His glory! (Isa. 43: 7) God calls you: 'blessed,' 'precious,' 'child of the Most High!' Go ahead; declare your Fathers blessings over your life. When you speak Scriptures over yourself He, who crowns you with lovingkindness and mercy, will provide you with good things so that your youth will be renewed like the eagles! (Ps. 103: 3; 5) They that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. (Ps. 34: 10) Keep on seeing yourself as God sees you, until your faith soars! All the promises of God are Yea and Amen! Thalidomide

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Parsons] John Parsons Thalidomide is responsible for causing more than 10,000 children to be born with birth defects. A West German Pharmaceutical Company first introduced Thalidomide as a sedative or sleep aid in 1957, and scientific testing determined that Thalidomide was safe, before it was introduced. Thalidomide is dangerous (an understatement) and it is being prescribed even today. Thalidomide is being tested and has been used as a part of a drug (cocktail) to treat ADHD. The Medical (North American Health Care Industry) presents itself as the scientific way to health. However, their methods are not necessarily scientific in the application of its form of health care. Industries must make money to survive, and the Medical as an industry, can be ruthless in its drive to make a profit. Thalidomide ranks with and should elicit the same negative memory response as: dioxin, carcinogen and poison. Soon after Thalidomide was released, reports started to come back to the company of instances of neuritis, because Thalidomide had a toxic effect on the nervous system of the user. Thalidomide was first used as a sleep aid or sedative and was available and widely used in Germany, Canada, Japan, Bolivia and Britain. Other countries had access to the drug; however, it was mainly contained in those countries. John Parsons

College: Reasons You Should Not Go

By Andre Bias College has benefits that are always discussed in the media. People comment that if you want to do something with your life you have to go to college because it will give you the greatest opportunities. We all hear the statistics that say if you go to college you make a lot more than a high school graduate over your lifetime. Those things are true but they are not true for everyone. Just as some people benefit from going to college a lot of people do not. College does not guarantee a job or success and if a college graduate is unable to obtain a quality position they will not only have wasted a lot of money and have a lot of loans piled up but they will also have wasted several years of their life. No one wants to waste four years of their life under the impression that everything will be great after college which is why students need to know if they are making the most productive selection by going to college. If you choose to go to college do several things, pursue scholarships, work as much as you can, and do an internship. Pursuing scholarships will allow you to minimize the amount of loans you will need. Working while in college will also allow you to minimize loans and doing an internship will give you an edge in the job market. Xenadrine: How It Helps Effective Weight Loss

By Phil Carpenter Countless ways have been devised and marketed by individuals and businesses to help people in weight loss. Although, Xenadrine treatment is yet another of those ways by which people can lose weight, it has proved to be an incredibly effective method. Xenaadrine is marketed by Cytodyne Technologies and has been increasingly growing in popularity over the last few years. The most popular Xenadrine product right now in the market is Xenadrine EFX. These are selling like hot cakes and have been getting very positive reviews from people who have been taking them for weight loss. This version of xenadrine is free of ephedrine unlike most of the other versions that used to be marketed by Cytodyne Technologies. Xenadrine RFA1 used to be really popular too but it came under the scanner, which was mostly because people tended to misuse it too much. The main reason Xenadrine RFA1 use was checked is because it contained ephedrine, which has proved to be a topic for research for quite some time now. Most of the times, the problem was that people tend to sometimes take more the prescribed dosage in their eagerness to lose weight, as soon as possible. Having said that, it has come to light that Xenadrine EFX has been doing really well and there has been no indication of any side effects, like the other ephedrine containing fat burners. A lot of the diet and weight loss products in the market contain ephedrine and so this Xenadrine EFX comes as a great respite in the face of all this. It proves to be a healthy alternative with no negative ingredients. The amazing thing about Xenadrine EFX is that it really helps in significant weight loss without the presence of ephedrine. This comes as quite a surprise because most weight loss products hardly work in the absence of ephedrine. But that is not the case here as Xenadrine EFX has proven that it can help to significantly reduce body weight and burn body fat without the presence of ephedrine. This effectiveness is doubtless brought about by a great mix of ingredients. Some of the main ingredients include Yerba Mate, green tea extract, tyroplex, Isotherm and grape seed extract. Most of the ingredients have one benefit or the other. Therefore, the effectiveness of Xenadrine EFX is actually not restricted to just the realm of weight loss or fat burning. For example, the tyrosine, it contains can also act as a mood enhancer and has been proven to alleviate depression in people who have taken Xenadrine EFX. Apart from this, green tea extract helps in blocking harmful carcinogens and acts as a major anti-oxidant. Other benefits include better attention spans and greater energy. All these go a long way in saying that Xenadrine EFX is a great and more importantly a very healthy way to lose body weight. In case, you are planning to go on a diet of this supplement, you must check the side effects and read all the ingredients. If you suffer from any chronic diseases, it is advisable to go and check with your physician. Buying, Storing and Serving Gourmet Cheese

By Lee Dobbins Gourmet cheese comes in a large variety with well over 400 varieties just from the French cheese alone. From the mild to the strong, the soft to the hard, cheese is a great way to compliment any meal or snack. Whether you are having a fancy wine and cheese party, or just enjoying a slice of cheese with an apple for a snack, your gourmet cheese will taste a lot better if you learn how to purchase, store and serve it properly. Buying Cheese When buying gourmet cheese, you want to shop at a place that has a large selection and knows about cheese. That way youll be able to ask for recommendations if you want some special cheese to go with a certain type of wine or special meal. You can find a good selection of cheese in a specialty market or gourmet grocery store. Buy only what will be consumed with in a few days. Flavors and aroma of fine cheeses change over time in a home refrigerator. When picking out your cheese make sure that it presents the characteristics of that particular style. The interior should not have cracks, mold or discoloration in any form. If you are buying a natural rind cheese make sure it has a rustic appearance. Note that it is normal for Blue and Roquefort style cheese to have some mold and cracks. Storing Cheese You should not store the cheese in the package that it comes in. This packaging is meant for transportation only. The best thing to store your cheese in is waxed paper as you must let air and moisture in. Air and moisture are integral to keeping the cheese in the best possible condition. Serving Cheese When you serve cheese at a party, limit yourself to 4 or 5 types of cheese. You should select cheeses that have a variety of shapes, sizes, textures and flavors. Mix some soft cheese with the hard cheeses. I think cheese looks nice served on a nice wooden tray. Dont mash the cheese in together, make sure each one has enough room without having the tray look empty. If the cheeses served have strong distinctive flavors use separate trays and serving utensils. Mild flavors will pick up aromas and tastes from stronger flavored cheese. We all know that cheese goes great with crackers, but you can also serve it with fruits like grapes, strawberries, apples and pears. Add some figs to the table for an interesting contrast in taste and visual appeal. Combining cheese with thin slices of onion can be an interesting eating experience. As a desert, cheese can be very elegant, or as a light course after the entree and before desert. When serving as an appetizer cheese should be coupled with a light dinner due to the filling nature of most cheeses. While some people believe that cheese must always be chilled, it really as more flavor when it is at room temperature. You do need to watch the cheese, however, especially if your party is going on for a long time. If the cheese gets too warm it will begin to sweat. Put your cheese out about 30 minutes before guests arrive and keep checking throughout the evening. Lee Dobbins writes for Online Gourmet Foods where you can find out more about

Business Dress for Women: Making Impact

By Sheila Dicks Buying a suit can be an important investment when you are trying to improve your look for business or career advancement. Wearing a standard off-the rack suit for business or a job interview does not always mean success. Fit is very important. The outfit may be great but if it does not accentuate your positive features or is not the right color, you will not look as good as you can. Start by determining your body type and then choose the suit that will look best on you. For instance, if you are a triangle shape you are smaller on top than bottom and will want to bring the eye across the shoulders to create the illusion of greater width at the shoulders. Choosing a business suit with horizontal lines can achieve this effect. Choosing the perfect pants, skirts, accessories and even shoes will depend on your body shape. Some things to consider: 1. Spice a gray or black suit up with vibrant colors such as burgundy, blue, violet, rust, green etc. You need not look boring just because you are dressed in gray or black. 2. If you are applying for a position with a new company or are trying to look more professional in your present company, take a look at the companys dress code and what the other employees are wearing. Your outfit should not make you appear under or over dressed. 3. Give your business outfit more pizzazz by wearing scarves with different patterns and colors. Take into consideration your size; you body proportions and the features you are trying to accent. 4. Make sure your shoes are in good repair, complement your outfit, give your leg the desired effect and are stylish. Being stylish doesnt mean the latest fad but instead a look that is timeless. 5. Make sure that you buy items for your business wardrobe that coordinate well with each other, saving you money and time. 6. To make sure you have the look you desire buy a full-length mirror so you can always check yourself from head-to-toe before leaving home. God Uses Internet People

By Russ Miles So often I am asked, How do you know that you are operating in Gods will? Normally, I need not look beyond the previous week for an example of His miraculous work in my life to answer the question. This is the first article that I have published under Religion or Spirituality. Hopefully, it will not be my last. I feel that everything that I do ~ or write ~ is a reflection of the problem person that a glorious God has allowed me to become. Not that He gave me the problems; rather I latched on to them all as a result of my own reckless ways. He, however, knew me before I did, and has made provisions to deliver me from myself. To Him be the glory! Could I have really solved such setbacks myself? The disabling Multiple Sclerosis, loss of prestige, my businesses, my home, my mangled marriages, even forced retirement, have each contributed to my understanding that Gods ways are higher than mans ways, His thoughts higher than my thoughts. On an exceptional day, I am aware that He can speak thru me to someone like yourself, cause me to say what you need to hear. Maybe, this is our day? I am willing. He is able. Now that I am unable to work in a conventional sense, I find I can do little but sit in front of a computer monitor, write articles, and interact via Internet with others. Frankly, I feel I am the recipient of much more than I ever give, in the way of good guidance and positive direction. Helpers materialize unexpectedly. Because of the boundless cyberspace, it is easy for an angel to tap one, who holds an answer to my dilemma, on the shoulder and whisper, Write an e-mail to this guy. Do you think that our angels are in communication? I do. This week, for example, after attempting for over three months to locate a physician who would write me a prescription for LDN (Low-Dose-Naltrexone), an inexpensive pharmacological I found on the Internet, which stops Multiple Sclerosis in its tracks, I gave it over to The Lord. My Neurologist and MD were unwilling to prescribe, my Internet query for Drs in my area who would write had come to no good end, and I knew my efforts were for naught. Lord, I said, If you want me on LDN, you are going to have to make it happen. I give up. Ill know that it is Your will, and give You the recognition. As always, when I quit attempting to do things my way, submit to His superior wisdom and miraculous methods, God is able to accomplish the seemingly impossible ~ in a matter of moments. An LDN user, who contacted me about reading my novel, provided me with the name and telephone number of such a physician, less than a mile from where I reside. I have talked to the good DR. by phone and will see him as soon as he can schedule me in. God is good! In a future article, I will likely go off about traditional medicines resistance to seeing sick patients get well, but this is not the time. It is a good time to reflect on what other problems I have been holding on to and determine to give those up too. Russ Miles is author of the novel, For Sale By Owners:FSBO.

Choose the Delivery Mode for your e-Learning Course

By Jeanette S Cates, PhD There are so many ways to deliver instruction online that the topic warrants its own lesson. In fact, deciding how you are going to deliver a course is critical to the way that you design and develop the course!
Your first decision is whether or not you will deliver the course "live" or in a synchronous mode. If you deliver it live, it means that you and the students need to be online at the same time. There are numerous courses delivered this way. One of the oldest models for this is a telephone course.
You can also deliver a teleseminar, which is a fancy way of saying a course via telephone. In a teleseminar, everyone calls into a central number where there is a "telephone bridge". The bridge can handle many simultaneous connections, so everyone can hear one another. And because everyone pays their own long distance bill to the bridge, it's an affordable technology to use. Bridge pricing varies, but if you're paying over $20 per hour to rent the bridge, then contact us and we'll put you in touch with a more reasonably priced vendor!
A variation on the telephone seminar is a video conferencing course. You can use a dedicated video conferencing system or some of the newer internet-based web cameras. But recognize that unless everyone is on a fast line (cable or DSL), the video quality will be disappointing. In fact, unless there is a reason that you need to see one another, I always recommend audio conferencing instead. A good example of the use of audio conferencing is at wizetrade.com where they offer a weekly tutorial using internet audio conferencing. (Click on support to see the weekly schedule. You can tune in free to see how it works.)
Other vendors provide a blended model of live telephone with live web. Three of the largest vendors in this space are webex.com , centra.com , and letsconference.com . For each of these, you call a telephone number to get the audio, then tune into a website to see the slides and other accompanying materials. Some services also offer a web audio option, so that no one needs to pay a long distance fee. Many of these vendors have also included enhancements such as live polls during the lesson, a "follow-me" type of Internet tour of sites, and the ability to carry on conversations during the class via a chat feature. Try to participate in at least one of each brand so that you are aware of the opportunities.
While live delivery has its place in web-based learning, it takes away one of the primary advantages assigned to online courses - the ability to learn anywhere, anytime. So if you want to provide that advantage, then you must assume an asynchronous mode of delivery. This type of delivery requires that you think through all of the course, design each lesson, then post the lessons for the students. Whereas with a "live" course you can assume that the instructor will prepare and deliver each lesson, an asynchronous course takes a lot more prior planning.
Even here there are numerous options. Here are some questions you need to answer as you are outlining the features of your course: * Will you have an instructor for the course? (instructor-facilitated) * Will all of the students start and end the course at the same time? (lock-stepped enrollment) * Will the instructor "release" the learning materials at a particular time of the week or will students be able to progress at their own rate? (student-paced or instructor-paced) * If you don't have an instructor for a course, how will you handle student questions? * How will you measure student progress through a course? Do you need to? * Will you certify course completion or are the students on their own as to whether or not they finish the course? * How will the choice of instructor-facilitated impact your staffing requirements for the course? * How will you train the staff to facilitate the course? * Will you allow student-to-student interaction? If so, how will you facilitate that?
As you can see there are a lot of questions to be answered as you plan a course.
P.S. Did I mention that you can also deliver a course via email? For a good example of an email course send an email to elearning@TechTamers.com Dr. Jeanette Cates is an Internet strategist who works with experts who are ready to turn their knowledge and their websites into Gold. Health Conscious Cooking Schools

By Kevin Stith Cookery school is a relatively modern concept that proves to be an exciting holiday option. Though the classes revolve around culinary art, they do not offer graduate degrees and are not accredited institutions. They are usually restaurants, hotels or snack bars. Cooking school tours are perfect vacation options, as they help tourists to acquire a local experience and try their hands at cooking local dishes, while traveling and shopping. Health conscious cooking schools tours provide details regarding various cooking styles that help retain food value and nutrition. Many people follow diet plans that may be self created, recommended or decided upon by their physicians. They are planned, keeping in mind the nutrition needs and food preferences. Health conscious cooking school tours revolve around cooking classes that are meant to teach people about the food options that safeguard the interests of health conscious people. Established hoteliers and restaurants often make health conscious cooking school tours available. It is important to make reservations in advance, as these classes are not walk-ins. Most of these classes have a minimum number of attendees to enable the in- house chefs and nutritionists to concentrate and interact with all the participants, individually. These classes teach the tourists to prepare easy, healthy and delicious meals. Such classes are available for amateurs and professionals, separately. This allows enthusiastic visitors to learn to prepare basic health conscious dishes, whereas professionals can opt for the gourmet preparations. In case these tours are a part of overseas vacations, rather than a weekend activity, people need to enquire about availability of English speaking staff. Tourists need to be attentive to their visa terms and should carry all relevant documents. What is Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christine_Watson] Christine Watson Complementary medicine and Alternative medicine are two different entities. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine. An example would be the use of aromatherapy to help lessen a patient's discomfort following surgery. Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. An example of this would be using a special diet to treat cancer, instead of undergoing surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy that has been recommended by a conventional doctor. There is also Integrative medicine, which combines mainstream medical therapies and CAM therapies to treat a certain health condition. Note that there is usually high-quality scientific evidence of the effectiveness of the CAM therapy when it is used integratively with conventional medicine. There are five major categories of CAM and they are listed and defined below: -Alternative Medical Systems These are systems that are built on complete systems of theory and practice. The systems have usually evolved apart from and earlier than the conventional medical approach used in the U.S. Examples of alternative medical systems that have developed in the Western cultures include homeopathic medicine and naturopathic medicine. Examples of systems that have developed in non-Western cultures include traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. -Mind/Body Interventions Mind-body medicine uses a variety of techniques designed to enhance the mind's capacity to affect bodily function and symptoms. Some techniques that were considered CAM in the past have become mainstream (i.e., patient support groups and cognitive-behavioral therapy). Other mind-body techniques are still considered CAM, including meditation, prayer, mental healing, and therapies that are a creative outlet such as art, music, and dance. -Biologically Based Therapies These are therapies in CAM that use substances found in nature, such as herbs, foods, and vitamins. Some examples include dietary supplements, herbal products, and the use of other so-called natural but scientifically unproven therapies (for example, the use of shark cartilage to treat certain cancers). -Manipulative and Body Based Methods These methods, used in CAM, are based on manipulation and/or movement of one or more parts of the body. Some examples include chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation, and massage. -Energy Therapies Energy therapy involves the use of energy fields, and there are two types:
Biofield therapies are intended to affect energy fields that surround and penetrate the body. The existence of such fields has not yet been scientifically proven. Some forms of energy therapy manipulate biofields by applying pressure and/or manipulating the body by placing the hands in or through these fields. Examples include Qi Gong, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch.
Bioelectromagnetic therapies involve the unconventional use of electromagnetic fields, such as pulsed fields, magnetic fields, or alternating-current or direct-current fields. Complementary and Alternative medicine is a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. While some scientific evidence exists regarding some CAM therapies, for most there are key questions that are yet to be answered through well-designed scientific studies-questions such as whether these therapies are safe and whether they work for the diseases or medical conditions for which they are used. The list of what is considered to be CAM changes continually, as those therapies that are proven to be safe and effective become adopted into conventional health care. Aromatherapy Massage and Massage: Effectiveness on Emotional and Physical Wellbeing

By CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd It has been well established that stress is one of the leading factors of chemical changes in the body. Persons who suffer from high anxiety are more prone to depression, disrupted sleep, heart disease and a kaleidoscope of other health disorders. In the case of those persons suffering from a plethora of health conditions, aromatherapy massage and massage have been shown to alleviate stress and anxiety. While these natural healing techniques may not always cure disease, they can have a remarkable effect on the physical body. What many individuals do not realize is that stress is the leading proponent in raising blood sugar levels and blood pressure, red blood cell over activity, constricted blood vessels, racing pulse, and digestive problems.[4] These facts prove that stress can have a very negative impact on overall health. In a report by the Research Institute of Nursing Science (College of Nursing Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea)[1], aromatherapy massage was studied on elderly women in Korea to determine its efficacy on anxiety and self-esteem issues. In the study, aromatherapy massage was administered using aromatic essential oils, such as chamomile, lavender, lemon and rosemary. Overall, the study lasted seven (7) weeks in duration. During that time frame, aromatherapy massage sessions were set three (3) times per week, with each session being 20 minutes. After the initial three-week period, a one-week intermission ensued, and then continued the remaining three weeks. While blood pressure and pulse rate were not significantly affected, remarkable differences were clearly established in regard to anxiety and self-esteem. In another study, aromatherapy massage was administered to older patients suffering from constipation. In the 10-day study, the experimental group was given abdominal aromatherapy massage; using the essential oils lemon, peppermint and rosemary. The control group, too, was given massage; but without the aid of aromatherapy. Upon commencement of the study, levels of constipation were measured by the constipation assessment scale (CAS). While the results found that the average number of bowel movements had improved in both groups (being treated with both aromatherapy massage and placebo massage); the experimental group who had received the aromatherapy massage showed a significant improvement. Purportedly, the aromatherapy massage demonstrated that its effects lasted for two (2) weeks after treatment; whereas non-aromatherapy massage lasted approximately seven to ten days (7-10). In conclusion, the study found that aromatherapy, coupled with massage does help ease geriatric constipation.[2] Other research suggests that both aromatherapy massage and massage are beneficial to persons suffering from cancer. In a study performed by Princess Alice Hospice in the UK, patients were administered both aromatherapy massage and massage alone during a four-week course. To assess its efficacy on physical and psychological symptoms, both techniques were randomly administered to patients with advanced stages of cancer. The findings were promising, as significant sleep patterns were enhanced in both the aromatherapy massage group and the massage-alone group. In addition, depression levels were statistically significant in the massage group. Overall, the study showed that patients who had heightened levels of distress were more likely to respond to both aromatherapy massage and massage alone.[3] In conclusion, we have learned that stress-related disorders and health complications can be significantly reduced and/or alleviated by natural healing techniques such as aromatherapy massage, massage and other noninvasive health treatments. 2007 All Rights Reserved - Aromatherapy Massage and Massage: Effectiveness on Emotional and Physical Wellbeing by CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd References:Effects of aromatherapy massage on anxiety and self-esteem in Korean elderly women: a pilot study. - Int J Neurosci. 2006 Dec; 116(12):1447-55.Effect of aromatherapy massage for the relief of constipation in the elderly - Taehan Kanho Hakhoe Chi. 2005 Feb;35(1):56-64A randomized controlled trial of aromatherapy massage in a hospice setting. - Palliat Med. 2004 Mar;18(2):87-92Chronic Stress Affects both Mind and Body: The Health Effects of Stress and Increased Cortisol (http://www.stress-and-health.com/) Disclaimer: This article is intended for informational purposes only, and is not intended to replace the medical advice of your doctor or health care provider.
